Linde H20–H35 (351 Series) Forklift Parts: What Wears, What Fixes It, and How to Order Right
The Linde 351 series — sold as the H20, H25, H30 and H35 — is one of the most widely used diesel and LPG counterbalance forklifts in Europe, and plenty have found their way into yards worldwide. It's a well-engineered truck with Linde's signature hydrostatic drive, which is exactly why buying parts for it differs from buying for a Japanese torque-converter machine: there's no conventional clutch pack to wear, but the hydraulics, steer axle and cooling system carry the load instead. Linde also revised the 351 through several sub-series (-01 through -05), and that suffix matters more than almost anything else when you order. Engine and fuel: Perkins on most, and filters that are series-specific
Most 351s run a Perkins diesel — the three-cylinder 903.27 on earlier -02/-03 trucks, and the 1104C-44 / 1104D-44 on later builds. Hard starting, a lumpy idle or a truck that dies under load is very often fuel rather than injection: the Fuel Filter Assembly 0009830520 covers the 351-02/-03 (Perkins 903.27) and the 352 series with the 1104C/D-44, and is far cheaper than the injection pump it protects. On the cooling side, coolant loss and overheating on a 351-03 usually starts at a perished hose — the Upper Radiator Hose 3511163208 is the direct fit for 351-03 H20-35D/T trucks. Air filtration: check which sub-series you actually have
This is where 351 owners most often order the wrong part. Early 351-01 through -05 trucks take the Air Cleaner 9839013 (which also covers the 331 and 332 series), while late 351-05 builds moved to the Air Cleaner 0009839027 (shared with the 1219 and 1220 series). Same model name on the counterweight, different element. Steer axle: the 351's biggest wear area
If you only inspect one thing on a used 351, make it the steer axle. Play at the wheel, a knock over expansion joints, or tyre scrub on full lock all trace back to the king pins and bushings — and because Linde used a common axle design across many series, these parts fit broadly. Mast and lift cylinders: drift and rough travel
Forks that sink slowly under load mean the lift-cylinder seals have hardened. The Lift Cylinder Seal Kit 0009608011 is listed for 351-01/-02/-04/-05 (VM 163 / VFHM 165) and for the 351-03 H25-30 (VM 186 / VFHM 186) — another reminder to check your sub-series and mast type before ordering. Nuisance electrical faults are cheap to fix once you find them, and on a 351 the common ones are shared across several Linde series. Reading your Linde: why the type number matters more than the name
Linde identifies trucks by a three-digit type number plus a sub-series suffix, and that's what parts catalogues are built around. “351” is the H20–H35 family; the suffix (-01, -02, -03, -04, -05) marks the generation, and as the air-cleaner example above shows, two trucks both badged H30 can take different parts. The name on the counterweight (H25D, H30T and so on) tells you capacity and fuel — D for diesel, T for LPG/gas — but the 351-xx number is what you order against. Find the type plate on the chassis or in the operator's compartment, note the full type and serial, and confirm the engine (Perkins 903.27, 1104C-44 or 1104D-44, or a VW unit on some builds). Then order by the OEM number stamped on the old part; Linde numbers are typically seven digits (9839013) or ten (3024530304).
A maintenance rhythm for a hydrostatic truck
Linde's hydrostatic drive means fewer driveline wear parts but a much higher premium on clean, correct hydraulic oil — it's doing the work a transmission would do on another truck. Check hydraulic and engine oil and coolant daily, keep to the filter change intervals, and treat any hydraulic weep as urgent rather than routine. Grease the steer axle and mast on schedule, keep the radiator core clear, and inspect the king pins and bushings at every service. Done consistently a 351 runs for a very long time; neglected hydraulic oil is what shortens one.
